Materials & Tools Needed
Step-by-Step Instructions
Prepare Your Workspace
Cover work area with newspaper. Gather all materials: wax, pre-tabbed wicks, containers (mason jars or tins), fragrance oil, thermometer, and double boiler setup.
💡 Pro Tip
Soy wax melts at 120-180°F. Use about 1 oz fragrance oil per pound of wax.
Secure the Wick
Place wick tab in center of container bottom. Use a drop of hot glue or wick sticker to secure. Use pencils or wick centering tool to keep wick centered and straight.
Melt the Wax
Fill bottom pot of double boiler with 2 inches of water. Add wax to top pot. Heat on medium until wax reaches 170-180°F. Stir occasionally as it melts.
Add Fragrance
Once wax is completely melted, remove from heat. Let cool to 160-170°F. Add fragrance oil and stir gently for 1-2 minutes to fully incorporate. Avoid creating bubbles.
Pour the Candles
Carefully pour wax into prepared containers, keeping wick centered. Fill to desired level, leaving 1/2 inch at top. Pour slowly to minimize air bubbles.
💡 Pro Tip
Save some wax for topping off. Candles often sink in the middle as they cool.
Cool and Trim
Let candles cool at room temperature for 24 hours. If sink holes form, reheat reserved wax and fill. Once fully hardened, trim wick to 1/4 inch. Cure for 3-7 days before burning.
